The Founder Rehabilitation Ranch
“PARIS” was born into a situation that no animal should be ever exposed to.
Starved and severely neglected, Paris' mother had given her foal everything
she had when Animal Control found them. The mare was so badly starved
she had to be euthanized; Paris was just 4 months old.

She was born with slightly contracted tendons in her right front leg. She was
given to an owner free in exchange for a promise to have the necessary
corrective surgery done. The surgery never happened, and sadly she was
once again in a situation where she was not getting the care she needed.  A
year after being rescued the first time, her leg had deteriorated terribly.
Paris was donated to The Founder Rehab Ranch with assurances that we
would do the surgery and bring her back to health.

A fundraising effort by members of the
Bay Area Equestrian Network
(BAEN) allowed us to have corrective surgery performed by Dr. Tom
Yarbrough at the Loomis Basin Equine Hospital early in September.  Since
surgery, Paris is required to wear a brace by Dynasplint 24 hours a day.
The brace is designed to pull the fetlock joint back into position using
constant, dynamic pressure.

THANK YOU for
your support!
UPDATE:  Paris was euthanized on Saturday, Jan 13, 2007 during surgery to
attempt to correct her deformity.  MANY huge thanks to Dr. Tom Yarbrough and
the staff at Loomis Basin Equine Hospital for their attention and caring for Paris.
The damage to the joint was simply to extensive to be repaired, and she would
have lived a life of constant pain.

We will miss her greatly, but know that she is now happy and free.

R.I.P. ...  and run free!
